I learnt how to cook by watching and helping my grandmother and mother preserve memories of their past through the food they placed on our table.
My parents were resettled in Britain following the Second World War. I will always be grateful to them for bringing me up to have a great sense of respect for our Polish heritage, despite the fact that they had left their homeland far behind them at a very young age. We marked and honoured the culture, folklore and traditions of Poland and I grew up believing that our home was a place to welcome family and friends, whether announced or unexpected guests. ~ Ren Behan, delicious.magazine
